Frontier Models vs Custom Models

Frontier models are made available by the organisations that develop, train, and maintain them such as Open AI's GPT models, or Meta Llama models, or Google Gemini models, etc.

Other organisations may take these "Base Models" and train them or modify their parameters to achieve certain results, or may combine them with other features such as "Online Search" capabilities to create different model output responses altogether.

There are also Custom models where anyone can publish their own version of an LLM trained with data or using bespoke code to generate it.

AI Private Model Deployments

Any model that is "deployable" can be run on a private instance so that it avoids the commmunication of data to any external entity.
